Overview

TEX26 antisense RNA 2 (TEX26-AS2) is an antisense long non-coding RNA transcribed in opposition to the TEX26 gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs generally function by base-pairing with complementary mRNA sequences, modulating gene expression at levels including transcription, splicing, translation, and mRNA stability. Their functional mechanisms can include recruitment of chromatin modifiers, transcriptional interference, and the alteration of mRNA structure. In the absence of specific biochemical or functional characterization, TEX26-AS2 should be regarded as a genomic feature with presumed regulatory properties based on its class, rather than a validated biological target. If structured information is needed for TEX26-AS2 as a drug target, it should be marked as not validated or incorrectly categorized, and its primary molecular classification is "antisense long non-coding RNA," with core function as gene regulation. There is currently no evidence supporting therapeutic targeting, explicit biological function, or disease association for TEX26-AS2 itself.
