TFEB antisense RNA 1 (TFEB-AS1)

TFEB antisense RNA 1 (TFEB-AS1) is proposed to be a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the TFEB gene. While antisense RNAs can sometimes regulate the expression of their sense counterparts at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level, there is currently no authoritative published evidence describing the biological role, disease association, or therapeutic targeting of TFEB-AS1. Most referenced TFEB research focuses on TFEB protein as a transcription factor involved in autophagy, lysosomal biogenesis, and cellular metabolism[1][2][3][5]. Therefore, TFEB-AS1 should not be considered a canonical protein target, receptor, or enzyme, and—without further information—it is not established as a therapeutic target.
