Overview

TFG pseudogene 1 (TFGP1) is annotated as a human pseudogene related to the functional TRK-fused gene (TFG), which encodes a conserved regulator of protein secretion and trafficking between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus[2]. However, as a pseudogene, TFGP1 does not encode a functional protein product, is not involved in cellular signaling or trafficking, and is not considered a therapeutic target. Research, including biochemical and disease studies, focuses on the protein-coding TFG gene, which has roles in ER-to-Golgi vesicle transport, protein secretion, and, through oncogenic gene fusions, cancer pathogenesis[3][5]. The pseudogene itself has no confirmed biological or pathological significance. If a therapeutic context is required, inquiries should be directed to the canonical, protein-coding TFG gene, not its pseudogene derivative.
