Its presence in genomic databases is primarily annotational, and it should not be mistaken for the functional TINP1 gene or protein[7]. For reference, the functional counterpart TGF beta-inducible nuclear protein 1 (TINP1) is implicated in cell proliferation and has roles in transcriptional regulation and cell signaling[4]. However, these functional properties do not apply to the pseudogene ENSG00000243695.
