Overview

TGFB induced factor homeobox 2 pseudogene 1 (TGIF2P1) is classified as a pseudogene, a genomic locus that resembles the TGFB induced factor homeobox 2 (TGIF2) gene but contains mutations or deletions rendering it incapable of encoding a functional protein[3]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes generally do not produce functional proteins, though some may retain regulatory functions at the RNA level. There is currently no evidence that TGIF2P1 is a receptor, enzyme, or molecular target for therapeutic intervention, nor is it associated with any known drug mechanisms or clinical biomarkers. As a pseudogene, its primary biological significance, if any, would most likely be related to potential regulatory or miRNA-decoy functions, as observed in some pseudogenes, but there are no specific data supporting such a functional role for TGIF2P1 itself[1][3].
