Overview

TGIF2-RAB5IF readthrough is a naturally occurring read-through transcript fusing the TGIF2 (TGFB-induced factor homeobox 2, a transcriptional repressor) and C20orf24 (chromosome 20 open reading frame 24, also known as RAB5IF, a membrane protein insertion factor) genes. The readthrough transcript encodes a fusion protein that incorporates sequence from both parental proteins, but there is no evidence it functions as a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, druggable enzyme, transporter, or related target class. Disease associations are inferred based on the individual gene components, but there is minimal evidence implicating the fusion product itself in therapeutic strategies or drug targeting[1][7][8]. TGIF2-RAB5IF readthrough is a fusion gene product resulting from the transcriptional read-through between TGIF2 and C20orf24, encoding a fusion protein that is not known to be a direct therapeutic target or the subject of drug development or targeting[1][7][8].
