Thermolysin (TLN)

Target
TLN
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Metalloproteinase
01

Overview

Thermolysin is a thermostable neutral metalloproteinase enzyme produced by the Gram-positive bacterium *Bacillus thermoproteolyticus*. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of peptide bonds containing hydrophobic amino acids and can also catalyze peptide bond formation via reverse hydrolysis reactions. It is widely used in peptide and protein research due to its broad substrate specificity and thermostability.
