Thermosensitive liposomes (TSLs) are engineered nanocarriers designed to release their encapsulated therapeutic agents in response to mild hyperthermia (39–42°C). They enable spatially and temporally controlled drug delivery, particularly for targeting tumors. Upon heating, the lipid bilayer undergoes a phase transition, increasing membrane permeability and releasing the drug. Different formulations exist, including traditional TSLs, lysolipid-containing TSLs (e.g., ThermoDox®), and polymer-modified TSLs.
