Target intelligence / Profile preview
Thioredoxin domain containing 17 pseudogene (ENSG00000235993) is a nonfunctional DNA sequence located in the human genome that shares significant sequence similarity with the protein-coding gene for thioredoxin domain-containing 17. As a pseudogene, it does not encode a functional protein product and is not currently associated with any recognized biological activity or disease role. Its presence reflects prior duplication or retrotransposition of the parent gene, but mutational events have disabled its ability to produce a functional protein. While other pseudogenes have occasionally been implicated in regulatory RNA functions and disease processes, there is no evidence supporting such a mechanism for this gene. It is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it used in drug development, biomarker studies, or clinical diagnostics.
