Thioredoxin domain-containing protein 9 (TXNDC9) is a member of the thioredoxin protein family, characterized by the presence of a thioredoxin domain, which is typically involved in redox reactions and protein folding[3][4][5][6]. In humans, TXNDC9 is encoded by the TXNDC9 gene and is expressed as a 222-amino acid protein. While its precise physiological function remains incompletely characterized, evidence indicates that TXNDC9 negatively regulates the ATPase activity of the chaperonin TCP1 complex, thereby impacting the folding of cytoskeletal proteins such as actin and tubulin[6]. Studies in other species, such as fish, suggest a role in protecting cells against oxidative stress and contributing to immune responses and wound healing, hinting at a possible role in cellular homeostasis under stress conditions[1]. However, there are currently no established clinical associations with human disease, no approved drugs targeting TXNDC9, and no evidence for its routine use as a therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or drug safety concern[3][4][5][6].
