Threonine synthase-like 1 (THNSL1) is a human gene with sequence similarity to threonine synthase enzymes found in bacteria, fungi, and plants, where these enzymes catalyze the final pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-dependent conversion step in threonine biosynthesis from O-phosphohomoserine[1][2]. In non-mammalian species, this is an essential metabolic enzyme for amino acid biosynthesis and represents a pharmaceutical target for antifungal agents and herbicides. In humans, THNSL1 is annotated as a gene but does not encode a protein with validated threonine synthase enzymatic activity; its biological function and clinical relevance are unclear and uncharacterized.
