Threonyl-tRNA synthetase 2, mitochondrial pseudogene 1 (TARS2P1)

Overview

TARS2P1 is a human pseudogene closely related to the protein-coding gene threonyl-tRNA synthetase 2, mitochondrial (TARS2)[5]. Unlike TARS2, which serves as a mitochondrial class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase and is involved in mitochondrial protein translation and human disease[1][3], TARS2P1 does not encode a functional protein and is generally of interest only for genomic research rather than drug discovery or biomarker development. Pseudogenes like TARS2P1 may contribute to genome structure or regulation but are not considered therapeutic targets due to lack of protein expression or biological function[5].
