Thrombopoietin mRNA is the transcript of the *THPO* gene, encoding thrombopoietin—a protein hormone essential for platelet production. The mRNA is constitutively expressed in the liver and kidney and regulates platelet production through translation of the encoded protein in response to hematological demand[1][3][8]. Recent advances have enabled therapeutic use of synthetic TPO mRNA delivered by lipid nanoparticles, raising plasma TPO and increasing platelet counts in animal models of thrombocytopenia, thereby establishing this molecule as a viable and potentially safe target in synthetic mRNA-based therapies[2].
