Target intelligence / Profile preview
Thrombospondin 4 antisense RNA 1 (THBS4-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the THBS4 (thrombospondin 4) gene. Its sequence and expression patterns are cataloged in genomic databases, but there is currently no published evidence directly connecting it to major disease pathways, nor has it been validated as a therapeutic target or biomarker. Long noncoding antisense RNAs such as THBS4-AS1 can regulate the expression of their sense gene partner—here, THBS4, which encodes an extracellular matrix protein involved in tissue structure, inflammation, and repair processes in multiple organ systems. Although antisense RNAs as a molecular class are being explored for their regulatory roles and potential as therapeutic targets, no known drugs or interventions are currently associated with THBS4-AS1, and its specific biological or medical function remains poorly defined. Note: You referenced THBS4-AS1 (antisense RNA), not THBS4 (the protein), which is a well-characterized extracellular matrix protein. Antisense RNAs in general are being investigated as regulatory molecules and potential therapeutic tools, but THBS4-AS1 specifically is not established as a therapeutic target in current literature or databases.
Not established for drug targeting; antisense regulation of THBS4 gene expression is possible based on RNA biology.
