Thymidylate synthetase pseudogene 1 (TYMSP1) is a pseudogene related to the functional gene encoding thymidylate synthase. Pseudogenes are typically nonfunctional gene sequences derived from functional genes through evolutionary processes. TYMSP1 shares high sequence similarity to the coding gene for thymidylate synthase but lacks protein-coding ability due to sequence disruptions such as aberrant splicing and misplaced polyadenylation. There is no evidence that TYMSP1 encodes a functional receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and there is no clear association with disease roles, interacting drugs, or known biomarkers.
