Thymine-DNA glycosylase pseudogene 1 (TDGP1) is a non-protein-coding genetic locus classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes like TDGP1 are usually derived from gene duplications or retrotranspositions and do not produce functional proteins. TDGP1 is related to the functional gene for thymine-DNA glycosylase, an enzyme involved in base excision repair of DNA, but itself does not encode an active enzyme. As a pseudogene, TDGP1 has no well-established molecular function, disease association, or relevance as a therapeutic target, and is not directly involved in any biological or drug-related mechanisms[6].
