The thymic T cell differentiation pathway is the process by which hematopoietic progenitor cells from the bone marrow migrate to the thymus and undergo a series of tightly regulated developmental stages, resulting in mature, functional T lymphocytes. This process is essential for establishing a diverse and self-tolerant T cell repertoire that is critical for adaptive immunity. It involves positive and negative selection to ensure self-tolerance and the generation of functional CD4+ and CD8+ T cells.
