Overview

Thymosin beta-10 (TMSB10) is a small, intrinsically disordered cytoskeletal protein primarily known for its role in binding actin monomers and disrupting actin polymerization, which regulates cell migration, proliferation, and invasion. It is upregulated in various solid tumors and associated with poor prognosis, metastasis, and immune infiltration. TMSB10 has emerging roles as a prognostic biomarker in cancer and can predict response to immune checkpoint inhibitors and chemotherapy. Its biological effects extend to organogenesis, angiogenesis, and apoptosis, and its expression profile and mechanism of action appear to be context-dependent—with both oncogenic and tumor-suppressive properties described, depending on tissue and cancer type.
