Target intelligence / Profile preview

Thymosin beta 15A (TMSB15A)

Target
TMSB15A
Molecular classification
Actin-binding protein, Cytoskeletal protein regulator, Other (protein coding gene; member of the beta thymosin family)
01

Overview

Thymosin beta 15A is a member of the beta-thymosin family of small regulatory proteins, primarily expressed in the cytosol, where it binds and sequesters actin monomers, inhibiting actin polymerization and thereby influencing cell shape, migration, and motility[1][4]. The protein is upregulated in multiple malignancies and contributes to tumor cell migration, invasiveness, and metastasis through interaction with oncogenic and inflammatory signaling pathways such as IL-6/JAK/STAT3 and TGF-β[4]. TMSB15A serves as a promising biomarker for diagnosis, prognosis, and response prediction in cancers like gastric and triple-negative breast cancer[2][4].
