Target intelligence / Profile preview

TIE2 Receptor (TIE2)

Target
TIE2
Molecular classification
Receptor, Receptor Tyrosine Kinase
01

Overview

The TIE2 receptor, also known as Angiopoietin-1 receptor or TEK tyrosine kinase, is a receptor tyrosine kinase primarily expressed in endothelial cells. It is essential for blood vessel maturation, remodeling, and stability during embryonic development and postnatal angiogenesis. Aberrant TIE2 signaling is implicated in various vascular diseases including venous malformations and cancer-related angiogenesis. It interacts with Angiopoietin-1 (agonist) and Angiopoietin-2 (context-dependent agonist/antagonist).
