Overview
Tigger transposable element-derived protein 4 (TIGD4) is a human protein encoded by the TIGD4 gene, belonging to the tigger subfamily of the pogo superfamily of DNA-mediated transposons. TIGD4 proteins are evolutionarily related to DNA transposons, including Tc1 and mariner transposases, and share similarities with mammalian centromere protein B. TIGD4 is annotated to have nucleic acid and chromatin binding functions, but its precise biological role is not established. It is not currently considered a therapeutic target, nor are there drugs, mechanisms, or safety issues associated with its modulation. Gene expression data suggest low tissue specificity and a lack of verified disease mechanisms.
