Target intelligence / Profile preview
Tissue factor (TF), also known as coagulation factor III, is an integral membrane glycoprotein that initiates blood coagulation. It acts as the high-affinity receptor and essential cofactor for plasma factor VII/VIIa, triggering the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation following vascular injury. Aberrant expression or exposure of TF contributes significantly to disease states such as atherosclerosis, sepsis, and cancer.
TF binds with high affinity to factor VII/VIIa, leading to the activation of factors IX and X, ultimately resulting in thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation.
