Tissue growth refers to the process by which tissue increases in size, primarily through cell division and proliferation. It occurs during development, regeneration, and repair. The control of growth involves multiple signaling pathways, notably growth factor signaling via receptors such as the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) receptor, fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) receptors, each playing central roles in signaling cascades that regulate proliferation, differentiation, and extracellular matrix synthesis.
