Tissue regeneration and repair pathways comprise complex, overlapping molecular and cellular processes that restore tissue structure and function after injury. These pathways include signaling by growth factors (such as TGF-β, PDGF, FGF, and EGF), matrix remodeling orchestrated by the extracellular matrix (ECM) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), immune cell recruitment and modulation, angiogenesis, and activation of intracellular pathways including integrin-mediated signaling (FAK, ERK, PI3K/Akt) essential for cell migration, survival, and proliferation. Dysregulation of these pathways can result in impaired healing or pathological conditions such as fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or tumorigenesis. While individual proteins in these pathways—such as integrins, protein kinases, growth factor receptors, or MMPs—can be viable therapeutic targets, the pathway as a whole is not one target but a system of interacting components.
