Tissue volume

01

Overview

Tissue volume refers to the *measurement of the three-dimensional space occupied by a specific tissue*, such as muscle, brain, or fat, within an organism[1][2]. This parameter is commonly used in anatomical, physiological, and imaging studies to quantify structural or morphological characteristics of tissues for research or clinical assessment. Tissue volume is measured using various imaging or physical displacement techniques (e.g., MRI volumetry, water displacement by Archimedes' principle)[1][2]. It is relevant in assessing tissue growth, atrophy, disease progression, or for surgical planning. Tissue volume is *not a molecule or protein* and has no molecular structure, function, or direct role as a receptor or enzyme. It is, therefore, not a druggable biological target and has no associated drugs, mechanisms of action, or molecular biomarkers.
