TLC domain-containing protein 3A (TLCD3A), also known as FAM57A or CT120, is a membrane-associated protein encoded by the TLCD3A gene located on chromosome 17 in humans. It is implicated in promoting lung carcinogenesis; knockdown or splice variants lacking part of the protein have been shown to inhibit lung cancer cell growth. TLCD3A is predicted to be involved in amino acid transport and glutathione metabolism, with interactions noted with SLC3A2 and a gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase-like protein. Expression is strongest in the pancreas and present at lower levels in various other tissues, suggesting a broader physiological role. Ortholog data indicates a potential function in lipid homeostasis. There is no established evidence that TLCD3A functions as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter at this time[1][2][7].
