TMEM109 divergent transcript (TMEM109-DT)

Target
TMEM109-DT
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Other (not a receptor, channel, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor)
01

Overview

TMEM109-DT is a divergent long non-coding RNA gene located near the protein-coding TMEM109 gene on human chromosome 11[1][3]. Divergent transcripts are typically defined as long non-coding RNAs situated within 300-500 nucleotides of a protein-coding gene on the opposite DNA strand, and are not predicted to encode a protein[3]. There is currently no evidence that TMEM109-DT is a therapeutic target, nor does it have established roles in biology or disease. The canonical protein target, TMEM109, encodes an endoplasmic reticulum-resident voltage-gated cation channel, but this is a distinct entity from TMEM109-DT[5][6][8]. If you intended to request information about the protein-coding gene TMEM109 (transmembrane protein 109), further data is available for that entity, but TMEM109-DT as stated is only a non-coding transcript.
