Target intelligence / Profile preview
TMEM154 antisense RNA 1 (TMEM154-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed from the strand opposite the TMEM154 protein-coding gene in the human genome. The function, tissue specificity, and potential disease associations of TMEM154-AS1 remain uncharacterized in current scientific literature and gene databases. Antisense RNAs in general can regulate the expression of adjacent genes via various cis- or trans-acting mechanisms, including chromatin remodeling, transcriptional interference, or RNA-based modulation of stability and translation. However, there are no published studies specifically detailing the biological role or clinical relevance of TMEM154-AS1 in humans so far. General mechanisms for targeting lncRNAs (including antisense RNAs) involve antisense oligonucleotides, which are being developed to modify or degrade lncRNAs for therapeutic purposes, but this is not specific to TMEM154-AS1. If detailed, structured data or additional characterizations are required about TMEM154-AS1, experimental studies or new bioinformatics analyses would be necessary, as public resources only indicate its existence as an lncRNA gene.
None known for this lncRNA itself
