TMEM161B divergent transcript (TMEM161B-DT) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), transcribed from a divergent region near the protein-coding gene TMEM161B. This lncRNA has multiple aliases, such as TMEM161B-AS1 and linc-POLR3G-8, and is annotated as a non-protein-coding transcript. It has been identified in human transcriptomic studies as being upregulated in certain cancers, such as glioma and clear cell renal cell carcinoma, where its higher expression is associated with malignancy, though it may be downregulated in other cancers like oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Present evidence does not indicate a protein-coding role or a defined molecular function, nor is it recognized as a therapeutic drug target, biomarker, or receptor. Its primary interest currently is in research exploring its regulatory functions and cancer association as a noncoding RNA.
