Overview

TMX1 pseudogene 2 (TMX1P2) is a noncoding genomic sequence that bears similarity to the functional TMX1 gene but contains disabling mutations that prevent it from encoding a functional protein. Pseudogenes like TMX1P2 may be transcriptionally inactive or may generate noncoding RNA; while some pseudogenes are known to regulate their parental genes via RNA-mediated mechanisms, there is currently no evidence that TMX1P2 has any such regulatory or disease-related role[4][5][11]. It is not a known or potential therapeutic target. Key points: - TMX1P2 is a pseudogene, not a receptor, enzyme, or any other characterized therapeutic target. - There is no evidence of biological function, disease involvement, or drug interaction specifically associated with TMX1P2. - If a functional TMX1-related target is of interest, the correct entry would be "Thioredoxin-related transmembrane protein 1 (TMX1)". If the search intended to find information for TMX1 (the protein-coding gene), significant re-interpretation and different structured data would be required.

Biological functions

Other (pseudogenes can sometimes have regulatory RNA-level functions[4][5][11], but there is no evidence this applies to TMX1P2 in the current literature)
03

Disease associations

Other (pseudogenes in general have been implicated as regulatory elements in various diseases[4][10][11], but no disease associations are known specifically for TMX1P2)
