Overview

TNFRSF14 antisense RNA 1 is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the TNFRSF14 (tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 14) locus on chromosome 1p36.32. The gene produces noncoding transcripts (no protein product), with multiple known splice variants. As an lncRNA, TNFRSF14-AS1 is postulated to regulate the transcription and/or splicing of the TNFRSF14 gene, likely by recruitment of transcription factors, chromatin modifiers, or splicing factors. TNFRSF14-AS1 is differentially expressed in several human cancers, significantly upregulated in various renal carcinomas (KIRC, KICH, KIRP) and cholangiocarcinoma, and its expression correlates with disease progression in some cancers. There is no evidence that it serves as a classical drug target, and there are no known drugs targeting TNFRSF14-AS1 or associated mechanisms of action. However, due to its cancer-specific expression and regulatory activity, it may be relevant as a candidate biomarker or a potential future therapeutic target, but current literature does not support its use as a direct target for approved therapies.
