Overview

TNRC6B divergent transcript (TNRC6B-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the genomic locus adjacent to but running in the divergent orientation relative to the TNRC6B gene. Divergent transcripts commonly arise from bidirectional or divergent promoters—genomic DNA regions that can initiate transcription in opposite directions, producing both a protein-coding transcript and a non-coding RNA[4]. No direct evidence suggests TNRC6B-DT encodes a protein, nor is it currently considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical therapeutic target[3][5]. The molecular function, biological significance, and role (if any) in disease remain to be elucidated. It does not correspond to the circRNA "circ-TNRC6B," which is a processed circular RNA arising from TNRC6B with documented tumor suppressor function in esophageal cancer[1] (distinguish from TNRC6B-DT). The "divergent transcript" label means it is transcribed in the opposite direction of the main gene at the locus, typical of many lncRNAs generated at gene promoters[4]. No current evidence indicates it interacts with drugs, serves as a clinical biomarker, or has a defined mechanism of action. Divergent transcripts are common in human genomes and may function in gene regulation, but the functional specifics for TNRC6B-DT are not yet published. TNRC6B divergent transcript (TNRC6B-DT) is a non-coding RNA with uncharacterized function, not currently considered a direct therapeutic target, distinct from the protein-coding TNRC6B gene and related circular RNAs[3][5].
