TNS1-AS1
Molecular classification
Other, Long non-coding RNA, lncRNA

Overview

TNS1 antisense RNA 1 (TNS1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the tensin1 gene. Antisense lncRNAs like TNS1-AS1 can participate in the regulation of their sense gene's expression, often by RNA-RNA interaction or modulation of chromatin state. The function and disease associations of TNS1-AS1 are not well characterized; however, other antisense lncRNAs are known to influence cancer biology and gene regulation. Care should be taken not to confuse TNS1-AS1 with TNS1 (tensin1), which is a scaffold protein involved in cell adhesion, migration, and signaling, and has roles in several cancers[1][3].
