Toll-like Receptor Pathway (TLR Pathway)

Target
TLR Pathway
Molecular classification
Signaling pathway, Pattern recognition receptor pathway
01

Overview

The Toll-like receptor (TLR) pathway is a crucial component of the innate immune system. TLRs recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), triggering signaling cascades that activate inflammatory and antiviral responses. These pathways involve adaptor proteins like MyD88, TIRAP, TRIF, and TRAM, leading to the activation of transcription factors such as NF-kB and IRF3, resulting in the production of cytokines and type I interferons. Dysregulation of TLR signaling is implicated in various diseases, including infections, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory conditions, and cancer. Due to the complex and powerful effects, the TLR pathway must be tightly regulated to avoid potentially dangerous or even deadly outcomes.
