Target intelligence / Profile preview
TOM1L2 antisense RNA 1 (TOM1L2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the TOM1L2 gene region. Like many antisense lncRNAs, TOM1L2-AS1 is believed to function primarily in the regulation of gene expression, possibly by interacting with chromatin or modulating transcription and RNA stability. There is no evidence that TOM1L2-AS1 encodes a protein, nor is there current data linking it to specific biological pathways, disease phenotypes, or therapeutic interventions. Non-coding antisense RNAs have been implicated in diverse regulatory and epigenetic functions, but the specific roles of TOM1L2-AS1 have not been elucidated in the scientific literature[1][3][7]. Long non-coding antisense RNAs, such as TOM1L2-AS1, are increasingly recognized for their ability to regulate the expression of their sense counterpart genes and sometimes other pathways, often through mechanisms involving chromatin remodeling, transcriptional interference, or modulating RNA stability[3][4][7]. However, the field is still emerging and TOM1L2-AS1 has not been characterized in the context of disease nor as a direct target for drugs or therapeutic intervention[1].
None established for drugs, as TOM1L2-AS1 is not a recognized drug target
