The TOMM40 pseudogene 3 (TOMM40P3) is one of five highly homologous pseudogenes related to the TOMM40 gene in the human genome. While the TOMM40P3 locus produces RNA transcripts in human cell lines and tissues, there is currently no evidence of protein-coding function or direct biological activity. It may regulate TOMM40 transcription levels and provide regulatory RNA species that buffer against transcriptional fluctuations, but its precise biological roles are undefined.
