Enamel, being the most mineralized tissue in the body, acts as a protective outer layer of the tooth, while dentin provides a resilient, shock-absorbing scaffold beneath[1][2][6]. The "mineral matrix" is not directly druggable, but is the substrate for preventive interventions (e.g., fluoride treatment) and is affected in disease states like dental caries and erosion. Because "tooth mineral matrix" does not designate a molecular target, protein, or receptor, it does not fit standard target-based drug development paradigms. The correct canonical forms for research use would be "Enamel" (for basic tooth crown mineral), "Dentin" (for underlying mineralized tissue), or "Hydroxyapatite" (as the mineral phase)[1][5][6].
