Target intelligence / Profile preview

Topoisomerase IV ATPase Subunit (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Enzyme, ATPase, Topoisomerase
01

Overview

The Topoisomerase IV ATPase subunit, commonly referred to as ParE in bacteria such as *Escherichia coli*, is a critical component of the bacterial type II topoisomerase enzyme complex known as topoisomerase IV. This enzyme plays an essential role in DNA replication and chromosome segregation by utilizing the energy from ATP hydrolysis to alter DNA topology, specifically decatenating (unlinking) newly replicated chromosomes and relaxing supercoiled DNA.
