The water component of the lumen is targeted by osmotic agents like polyethylene glycol, which retain fluid to modulate stool consistency and transit time in the treatment of constipation (StatPearls, 2023). While not a traditional protein receptor, managing the composition of the gastrointestinal lumen is a critical therapeutic strategy for treating acute poisoning, secretory diarrhea, and infectious enteritis (Gao et al., 2019). This target is considered incorrect in a strictly molecular context because it encompasses a broad range of substances and a physical location rather than a specific gene product.
