TP53 target 1 (TP53TG1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) identified as a transcriptional target of the tumor suppressor protein p53 (encoded by the TP53 gene) [4]. Unlike p53 itself—a protein with direct tumor suppressor functions—TP53TG1 does not encode a protein but is regulated in response to cellular damage, particularly DNA damage, in a manner dependent on wild-type TP53 activation. It was originally isolated from a colon cancer cell line with regulated p53 expression, and its transcription appears to mark or modulate some downstream p53-regulated responses. While its detailed functional mechanisms remain unclear, TP53TG1 is suggested to be involved in gene regulation related to the p53 signaling pathway [4]. There is no evidence it serves as a current therapeutic target, interacts with drugs, or is used as a biomarker or safety concern in clinical settings.
