Target intelligence / Profile preview
Traditional Chinese Medicine principles are a collection of philosophical and theoretical concepts that underpin the practice and clinical application of Chinese medicine. These principles include the theory of yin-yang, qi (life force), and the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), which describe natural and physiological phenomena in terms of balance, correspondence, and harmony. TCM principles also encompass diagnostic frameworks such as the eight principles (Ba Gang)—interior/exterior, cold/heat, deficiency/excess, yin/yang—and pattern differentiation (syndrome identification) used to diagnose and treat patients holistically rather than by targeting specific molecular entities. Treatment modalities guided by TCM principles include acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and exercises like Qigong and Tai Chi. While TCM principles serve as a foundation for the design and application of herbal formulas and clinical strategies, they do not constitute a biological target, receptor, or molecule in a scientific or pharmacological sense.
