Trafficking protein particle complex subunit 13 (TRAPPC13) is a component of the multi-subunit TRAPP (trafficking protein particle) complex, specifically associated with the mammalian TRAPPIII subcomplex, involved in the regulation of vesicle-mediated transport from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi apparatus, vesicle coating and tethering, as well as autophagy, especially in response to cellular stress. TRAPPC13 binds to other TRAPP subunits (such as TRAPPC2L, TRAPPC3, TRAPPC8, and TRAPPC4) and participates in vital processes required for secretory pathway integrity, autophagy flux, and resistance to certain types of cellular stress. While mutations or loss of function can impact cell survival under stress and increase susceptibility to pathogen infection, TRAPPC13 is not a therapeutic drug target or receptor, and no drugs targeting this protein are known[1][2][3][7][8].
