Target intelligence / Profile preview
Transcription elongation factor A like 4 (TCEAL4) is a member of the TCEAL gene family, encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein that contains a TFA (transcription elongation factor A) domain. TCEAL4 is thought to modulate transcription in a promoter context-dependent manner and is ubiquitously expressed in normal tissues[1][2][3][5][7]. It is significantly down-regulated in anaplastic thyroid cancers and multiple other cancer cell lines compared to normal tissue, suggesting a potential tumor suppressor role[1]. The gene is located on the X chromosome (Xq22.1) and exhibits alternative splicing, though the full-length nature of all isoforms is not definitively characterized[1][2][5]. There is currently no evidence that TCEAL4 is a direct therapeutic target or that any drugs act on this protein, though it may serve as a biomarker candidate for certain cancers, particularly anaplastic thyroid cancer[1]. Its precise biological functions in health and disease remain to be elucidated.
