Overview

Transcription elongation factor A protein 3 (TCEA3) is a member of the TFIIS family, necessary for efficient elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, particularly beyond template-encoded arrest sites that stall polymerase progression. TCEA3 is highly involved in muscle biology, as its expression increases during myoblast differentiation and it enhances the transcriptional activity of myogenic regulatory factors such as MyoD and Myogenin. Its mechanism ensures the release of stalled polymerase complexes, thereby accelerating the expression of genes critical for muscle development, maturation, regeneration, and repair. Evidence also links TCEA3 to the pathogenesis of rhabdomyosarcoma and suggests it may be a future target in muscle-related diseases and regenerative therapies[1][3][4][6].
