Transcription elongation factor A2 (TCEA2)

Transcription elongation factor A2 is a nuclear protein classified as an SII class transcription elongation factor, necessary for efficient elongation of RNA polymerase II past template-encoded arresting sites. It facilitates the release of RNA polymerase II ternary complexes from transcriptional arrest, frequently through cleavage of the nascent transcript, allowing resumption of elongation from a new 3’-terminus. TCEA2 interacts with general transcription factor IIB and is primarily expressed in testis tissue, with two transcript variants encoding different isoforms[1][2][3][6]. There is no evidence that TCEA2 acts as a direct therapeutic target or interacts with drugs[1][6].
