ELOCP2 (elongin C pseudogene 2) is a **pseudogene** related to the elongin C gene, which encodes a regulatory subunit of the general transcription elongation factor complex known as SIII. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart, the ELOCP2 locus does not produce a functional protein and has no established role as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. Pseudogenes can sometimes exert regulatory effects or be transcriptionally active, but ELOCP2 currently has no known biological function or clinical relevance as a drug target[3][10][11].
