**Transcription factor 23 (TCF23)** is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor family. It lacks DNA binding activity but functions as a negative regulator of other bHLH transcription factors, including TCF3 and MYOD1, by forming functionally inactive heterodimers and inhibiting E-box-mediated transcriptional activation. The inhibitory effect of TCF23 is similar to that of ID proteins, and it may play a role in the inhibition of myogenesis[1][2][7]. No evidence was found for its use as a drug target, disease biomarker, or involvement in specific human disease pathways. There are also no known interacting drugs or mechanisms of action established for targeting this factor.
