Transcription factor Dp-2 (TFDP2) is a protein-coding gene and member of the DP family of transcription factors. It forms heterodimers with E2F transcription factors, a partnership that significantly increases the DNA-binding affinity and transcriptional activity of E2F complexes. Through these interactions, TFDP2 plays a central role in the regulation of genes governing the cell cycle, particularly mediating the G1 to S phase transition, which is fundamental to cell proliferation and differentiation. TFDP2 is essential for proper repression of E2F2 target genes during terminal erythropoiesis and is required for correct erythroid differentiation, as well as for regulating cell cycle exit and enucleation in maturing red blood cells. Its dysfunction has been associated with aberrant cell cycle regulation, impaired erythropoiesis, and roles in certain diseases, including cancer and retinoblastoma[1][2][3].
