Overview

Transcription factor Sp6 (SP6) is a zinc finger transcription factor that promotes cell proliferation and plays a central role in development of epithelial structures, notably tooth germ formation and limb development in humans and mice[4]. SP6 binds DNA via C2H2-type zinc finger domains and regulates numerous target genes involved in epithelial cell proliferation and differentiation. It belongs to the Sp/KLF family of transcription factors that orchestrate developmental and tissue regeneration processes.
