Transcriptional adaptor 2B (TADA2B) is a protein-coding gene encoding a transcriptional coactivator that functions as a component of histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complexes. It enhances transcription by promoting HAT activity and facilitating interactions between activating transcription factors and the basal transcriptional machinery. TADA2B is involved in chromatin remodeling and regulation of gene expression, and can coactivate PAX5-dependent transcription, notably with SMARCA4 or GCN5L2 partners. Associated disease from current data includes spinocerebellar ataxia 7, likely due to general chromatin dysregulation. Its essential physiological role is in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression, but it is not currently considered a therapeutic drug target.
